Small Industries and Their Role in Eliminating Poverty in Iraq for the Period 2009-2022

This research addresses the topic of Small Industries and Their Role in Eradicating Poverty in Iraq for the Period 2009–2022. It highlights the economic and social challenges facing Iraq, particularly the high rates of poverty and unemployment, and examines the role of small industries in addressing these issues. The study focuses on the available potential in Iraq to support small industries, which are considered a key driver of economic growth and contribute significantly to creating job opportunities for youth and improving living standards. The research also discusses the problems of poverty and unemployment in Iraq, emphasizing that small industries can play a major role in providing new job opportunities by utilizing simple resources such as individual skills and limited capital. These industries also allow the establishment of small projects near consumers and sources of raw materials, thereby enhancing their ability to combat poverty and achieve sustainable economic development. The main objective of the research is to analyze the impact of small industries on sustainable development, with a particular focus on their role in eradicating poverty. It also examines their contribution to gross domestic product, the challenges they face, and their role in creating job opportunities for youth. The research is based on the hypothesis that small industries effectively contribute to reducing poverty rates by providing new job opportunities, and it adopts the descriptive-analytical approach to analyze the role of small industries in poverty reduction in Iraq.
